How do I get new cats added to the database?

Usually sending copies of the (preferably) certified pedigrees by regular mail is the best way, but other ways of adding info is also accepted. Please, check the "Submit Info" page of the database in question for instructions and addresses!

Correctness is important to us, but still there will always be mistakes. We are very greatful for all corrections of mistakes! Please, mail the correct info to the database maintainer. See the "Submit Info" page of the database in question for addresses.

Test matings: if I mate cat A and cat B, how do I get the percentages (analysis results and inbreeding coefficient)?

That's simple if cat A and B are in the database, if they are then:

  1. Ask for cat A in Search
  2. Click on "test mate"
  3. Click on "add cat" at the empty parent position in the pedigree
  4. Ask for cat B in the search screen that will appear
  5. Now you get a pedigree with sire cat A and dam cat B
  6. Now click on the pedigree analysis that you are interested in, or Inbreeding, and you will get the results.

How do I perform test matings with "two test mated cats"?

By clicking on "test mating" you will get an empty pedigree. In this you can add cats, that are found in the database, in the position of your choice. Read more about this in the "User Guide"!

How can I add pictures?

It is different for different databases. Some have a gallery, some enter external picture links, some don't have picture links at all. Please, check the "Submit Info" page to find out what to do with pictures of the breed that you are interested in! If it doesn't say anything about pictures, the database doesn't link to pictures (yet?).

What are the numbers behind the names of some of the cats?

These are either the birth dates (yyyy-mm-dd) or the EMS codes. EMS codes are the FIFe way to describe the colors, read more about this on the EMS table page.

When I send in info, how long will it take until it will be in the online database?

What is happening, when we get the info, is that the database maintainer will enter it in her local database, in her own computer. How soon this can be done depends on how much the database maintainer has got to do for the moment. We all do this in our free time, so it may vary a bit. Then every now and then the database maintainer is creating a file with info from her local database. This file is sent to PawPeds, and Peter will enter it into the online database program for everyone to see.
