The PawPeds PawAcademy held its first internet course in autumn 2007. We started with courses in Swedish, but now we will also give this course in English. Other languages will follow eventually. This is only the beginning of a new expansion of PawPeds.

We plan for a basic course in three steps about cat care and cat breeding. General course step 1, or G1 for short, is mainly about cat ownership. It is basically for beginners, but also for more experienced breeders who later want to take the higher courses.

Step 2 of the general course, G2, is mainly about having a litter but also includes basic genetics and breeding plans. Step 3, G3, is planned to be more in depth about selective breeding, genetics, etc. This is for breeders who have had a few litters already and have taken step 1 and 2 of the general course.

Apart from the general courses we also plan to set up breed specific courses eventually, as well as some other types of courses. But first we'll focus on the three steps of the general course.

We plan to start the first course in English 3 September 2008! You can subscribe to the course here:

The course fee is presently € 35 (plus bank fees for transfering the money). For Americans: € 35 is approximately 55 USD. ;-) The price might change over time. You won't have to pay until we can offer you a place in the course. If you won't get a place in this course, you will be placed on a waiting list and will be offered a place later on.

Note! The courses require quite some work from the students! Most of our students spend around 2-5 hours per week on the G1 course, some more, depending on earlier knowledge and how used the students are to study.

Cat owners and breeders who participate in and pass the exams of this course will be listed on a specific page on PawPeds. They will also have the right to use the banner shown above on their websites, to show that they have taken this course. There will be other similar banners for G2 and G3. This is to encourage new breeders to learn more about cats and cat breeding before they start to breed. We also think those who make an effort to learn should get credit for that, and this is one way of giving that.

Continuation...

The next step will be the G2 course. We plan to have it translated into English during 2008 and maybe part of 2009, so we can start the first G2 course at some time in 2009. You can however already read more about the contents of the G2 course here.

Status report

There is presently a waiting list for the G1 course in English. We are happy about this, but it might be less fun for those who are waiting for their turn to take the course. Here is a simple status report, which we will try to update every now and then.

One English G1 course, with 21 students, will start in the beginning of September. If any of those 21 persons who subscribed first choose not to take the course after all, we will obviously invite the next person on the list. The waiting list presently looks like this:

  • People in place 1-21, who will be invited to the first English G1 course, have subscribed before 14.48 CEST on 23 July 2008.
  • People in place 22-40 have subscribed between 14.49 and 18.39 CEST on 23 July 2008.
  • People in place 41-60 have subscribed between 19.17 CEST on 23 July and 14.35 CEST 24 July 2008.

Latest update 2008-07-28.
